Happy Monday to one and all, including those of us who just couldn’t make it into work today, due to Super Bowl parties running late *cough, cough*. Props to those of you who managed to make it in to work after an evening of partying. So now that football’s over, we can focus on some celebrity chisme.
Vote for Roseanne
Roseanne Barr, from the TV show named after her, filed documents last week to become President of the United States as the Green Party nominee. She has been using her Twitter and Facebook for awhile now to promote herself as U.S. President. I admit, I thought she was joking and I’m sure a lot of people who encouraged her on Twitter, also thought she was joking, but she just went ahead and made it official. Roseanne states that she’s sick of Democrats and Republicans not working in the best interest of the American People. The platform for her Presidential campaign is legalizing marijuana. Hmm, she may garner a few thousand votes for that alone, but do I think Obama should be worried? Not really. Although she could very well pull a Jesse Ventura and surprise us all. But we shall see, little surprises me in politics anymore. Would you vote for Roseanne?
 Funnyman…Unfunny Situation
Comedian Tracy Morgan’s mother is NOT happy with him, and she’s going to the media to let him know. Morgan’s mom, Alicia Warden, has been speaking out against the comedian and his lack of assistance. According to Warden, she is currently suffering financially and is about to have her house foreclosed on. She owes less than $25,000 on her home and she has said that the most help Tracy has offered is a one-time payment of $2,000. Not very helpful, considering Tracy’s well-paying role on 30 Rock. His youngest sister, Asia, is also speaking out against Morgan, going as far as calling him a “douche bag”, due to the way he’s treating their mother. The pair state that he’s not a nice person and they can’t believe that he won’t help his mom when she is not only about to lose her house, but her car and her utilities as well. Warden states that when she lost her job last year, Morgan agreed to pay off her house, but then changed his mind after he suspected she gave an interview to the media about him, something she denies. Though it’s hard to believe her, seeing how she’s now talking to the media about him, and not for free, I’m sure. Whatever his reasons are for not helping his mom out, I hope he reconsiders; this seems to be the type of thing you may regret once your viejitos are gone. I’m sure hearing about this interview won’t do anything to get him to help her out, but hopefully she got paid enough for this interview to help her pay off some bills.
Sad Flygirl
Jennifer Lopez was spotted holding a sad phone conversation on her hotel’s balcony in Miami. At first, you can see her happy and smiling, and then the tears came. I admit, I got a little bit excited, thinking maybe things with her boy toy were finally over, but it turns out she was talking to her daughter and it made her a bit homesick, which caused the water works. I’m glad she cleared this up herself, before rumors of her fighting with Marc or something like that were started. Speaking of Marc, has anyone watched their show Q’Viva: The Chosen? These two act like they’re still married, there’s no denying the chemistry that is still between them. They joke, tease and even seem to flirt with each other. In one scene, JLo even smacks Marc after he was checking out some dancers. Could this divorce be publicity for their show, as some have wondered? I doubt it, I would hope they wouldn’t stoop so low. I, for one, admit that I tuned in to the show to see how the exes work together, and so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised. They seem to get along great and it kind of makes me wish they were still together. Of course, this could just all be for the cameras, who knows what goes on behind the scenes, but on the show, they look cute together. Maybe these two should re-evaluate their relationship. Seems worth a try.
 Jersey Shore…not in Jersey?
Like I’ve mentioned a few times before, trashy reality TV is my guilty pleasure and Jersey Shore has all the ingredients of good, trashy TV. I can admit I enjoy watching it on occasion. And I can also admit that I was a little happy to hear that Snooki and Jwoww snagged a spin off show focusing on their friendship. The problem is that the Mayor of the town in Jersey where they planned to film did not approve their film permit. Apparently they denied the permit because of public safety and quality of life concerns, which translates to “your show’s trashy and we don’t want it to make us look bad.” Can’t really blame them for feeling that way, but in all honesty, they are also shooting themselves in the foot, as this could’ve been an opportunity for increased revenue and tourism to their town. The house where the first season of Jersey Shore was filmed now fetches $15,000 a week in rent, and fans of the show actually shell out that amount, just so they can say they have something in common with the Jersey Shore crew. So though I do understand Mayor Zimmer’s concerns, you have to admit that this could have also brought some good to their town. Word is Jwoww and Snooki plan to appeal that decision, but if they don’t win, I’m sure there will be plenty of towns in Jersey that will have them.
Sexy Sofia
Every year for the past decade, AskMen.com publishes their Top 99 Woman list and guess who made it to the #1 spot? That’s right, my girl, Sofia. I love her. I think she’s super sexy and looks great for her age and I also love Modern Family, and her character on the show. Okay, I’m gushing, let me stop. Other sexy Latinas that made the list include: Selena Gomez (#14), Jessica Alba (#24), Penelope Cruz (#49), and Eva Mendes (#54). Personally, I think Jessica Alba and Eva Mendes could’ve scored higher than Selena Gomez, but I think differently than men, so that makes sense. Other beautiful women that accompanied Sofia in the Top Ten include Emma Stone, Scarlett Johansson, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna. Do you agree with their choices?
Gossip Tidbits
Don Cornelius, the legendary creator and host of “Soul Train” was found dead in his California home, after committing suicide. Cornelius had suffered from health issues for the past few years, including a stroke and brain surgery and recently divorced in 2009. It was apparently not a friendly divorce and friends and family stated that he wanted to “finalize this divorce before I die.” A very sad and unexpected ending to the TV icon’s life. May he rest in peace.
Remember Tim Allen’s TV show, Home Improvement? Well one of his TV sons got in trouble with the law recently. Taran Noah Smith, the actor who played the youngest son was arrested for alleged DUI and possession of marijuana. Tim “The Tool man” Taylor would NOT be happy about this.
Rapper and reality TV show personality Flavor Flav is speaking out to the media in his daughter’s defense. Flav’s daughter, Dazayna Drayton, was arrested last weekend after allegedly hitting him during a fight. Flav says the entire thing was a misunderstanding and states: “I love my daughter and will never let anything happen that could come between us.” That’s all fine and well, Flav, but if your family arguments lead to blows, perhaps I can recommend some therapy…something that clock around your neck tells me you already need.
Our condolences to Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys, and his brother, singer Aaron Carter, for the loss of their sister Leslie, who passed away from what is reportedly an overdose at the young age of 25. She leaves behind a 1-year old daughter.
By the way, what did you think of M.I.A.’s one finger salute during the halftime show? No biggie or Janet Jackson 2.0?
Hottie of the Week
 Well, her husband couldn’t lock it down last night, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t win anything.
Congratulations Gisele Bundchen, you are the Hottie of the Week. I mean, who needs the Super Bowl trophy when you’ve got this little prize under your belt? Not only is she beautiful, but sweet and thoughtful too. Before the Super Bowl, she sent out an email to family and friends, asking them to keep hubby Tom Brady in their thoughts, as he was preparing for the big game. Obviously, the prayer circle didn’t work, but hey, they’re both still hot and have a beautiful son together, so I’m sure they’ll be just fine.
