Tuesday Evenings in the Café

The MCA offers a range of free and wildly interesting events in the cafe almost every Tuesday evening from October through April. Museum admission is free to everyone on Tuesdays so come early and visit the galleries and then stick around for constructive entertainment accompanied by a glass of wine or a cup of Joe and a tasty snack from Puck's Cafe.

DOODLEGANZA: THE DRAWING EXTRAVAGANZA
First Tuesday of the month, 6 pm
A whimsical art party that unites artists of all skill levels. Not really an art class, not quite a party; it is a gathering for those who want to have a hands-on encounter with art. The MCA provides art supplies and participants bring ideas. There are special activities to guide participants through the evening of art making.

Mar 2: Scott Reeder and Tyson Reeder - visual artists; Apr 6: Simon Anderson - cultural historian and School of the Art Institute professor

UBS 12 X 12: THE AFTER PARTY
Second Tuesday of the month, 6 pm
Following the UBS 12 x 12 Artist's Talk that takes place in the gallery at 6 pm, the gathering continues in Puck's Cafe where the artist(s) select music and images from their personal collections to create the backdrop for this unique artist encounter.

Mar 9: White / Light performance with Disappears; April 13: Daniel Everett

CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
Third Tuesday of the month, 6 pm
A grab bag of "un-lectures" about a myriad of topics that create a variety show-like evening of artist presentations curated by different groups from around Chicago.

Mar 16: Threewalls - non profit art gallery and artist residency program; Apr 20: Bad at Sports - podcast and blog about contemporary art

MAGICAL MUSICAL SHOWCASE
Fourth Tuesday of the month, 6 pm
